What this measures

How quickly and accurately you handle simple information. Two codes appear and you decide if they match exactly.

Why it matters

Processing speed affects how fast you learn and how much you can get done before attention runs out. It has its own index score on the Wechsler (WAIS) intelligence tests.

How it's scored

Correct answers minus wrong answers. Guessing doesn't help.

Tips

Scan left to right in one sweep.
Keep a rhythm, don't double-check every pair.
On a keyboard, use F for same and J for different.
