Tests / Inhibitory control

Focus

Name the ink color, ignore the word.

30 seconds · as many as you can

What this measures

Your ability to block an automatic reaction. A color word like RED appears in a different ink color, and you tap the ink, not the word.

Why it matters

This is the Stroop effect, one of the most studied tasks in psychology. It measures executive function, the self-control system behind focus and impulse control.

How it's scored

Correct answers minus wrong answers.

Tips

Let your eyes go slightly soft so you see color before you read.
Keys 1–4 are faster than tapping.
Accuracy first. Wrong taps cost you a point each.
